Was ist das eigentlich, was diese erstaunliche junge Frau auf der Bühne präsentiert? Sie bezeichnet sich als "Scottish Singer/Songwriter", und dann bekommt man Folk-Jazz geboten, der ursprünglich, frech, und ungemein sympathisch daherkommt. Sie fügt sich nicht einfach in eine der etablierten Kategorien, sondern bietet Songs, die von einer ganzen Bandbreite von Einflüssen profitieren: von Folk über Rock zum Jazz liegt da alles drin.Die Schottin Andi Neate spielt auf den Festivalbühnen und in den Clubs dieser Welt, von den Falkland-Inseln bis Kanada, quer durch Europa und in Großbritannien sowieso. Auf diesen Konzerten bietet sie raffinierte, niveauvolle, elegante, ja manchmal mondäne Songs, dann wieder frech und jung, folkig und nachdenklich, ganz oft mit Ohrwurm-Qualität. Die Presse vergleicht Andi gern mit Tori Amos, Suzanne Vega oder den Cranberries. Sie hat auf jeden Fall eine auffallend kraftvolle Stimme und ein außergewöhnliches Talent, ein Händchen für Melodien und ein Gespür für beachtenswerte Texte. Aber sie hat auch sehr viel Eigenes, man spürt stets ihre Natürlichkeit und Naturverbundenheit und hat immer wieder das Gefühl, dass ein Hauch frischer Luft den Konzertsaal durchströmt!

Andi Neate has been described as “angel-voiced” and “street tough” and compared with Suzanne Vega, Ani Difranco and the Cranberries.  Her appearance is a mixture of confidence and vulnerability - from the trademark tattoos writhing round her right arm to the tumbling mass of dark hair to her sometimes stocking soles when performing. Her childhood on a remote west coast island encouraged her natural affinity with nature, and the strong sense of independence which led her to building her own house – stone by stone - and which has taken her and her music to far corners of the world. Not to mention the ability to rustle up a paper rook, frog or a dolphin in seconds! Andi is an expressive performer, with a gift for melody, memorable hooks and delightfully offbeat lyrics. Her voice ranges from powerhouse to wistful sweetness; her music style covering folk, rock and jazz... and a touch of gospel on Shine. Her songs are a traveller’s tales of endings and beginnings, journeys and homecomings. songs about circuses and rocketships, night driving and fairy tales, peopled with colourful characters – sharply observed and lightly drawn, with an emotional honesty which makes them easy to connect with. Andi has performed as far afield as Canada, Georgia, Sicily and the Falkland Islands as well as making regular appearances at Prague, Glastonbury, Wickerman and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. She was one of the winners of the prestigious Burnsong Gathering (2007), the national competition to find and promote the best new songwriting talent in Scotland. The song which won her that place – Home – is one of the new studio recordings on her Crows, Rooks and Ravens CD and eloquently expresses the bitter-sweet contradictions of the place you come from. Andi has released five albums, including her most recent studio recording, Crows, Rooks and Ravens (2009). Recorded over a year in Edinburgh and Bath, the production ranges from songs with the full band treatment (Storm Crow, Too Busy Playing God), with strings, brass and backing vocals, to pared back emotive solo voice and guitar. ... Das Konzert kam sehr gut an, ich wurde mehrmals gefragt wo ich diese Perle denn nun schon wieder ausgegraben hätte. (Borofskys 2011) Das Konzert mit Andi Neate war super. Die Gäste waren begeistert.
